SYSTEMS

The Systems module to us was about expressing our selves, using materials and objects from our surroundings to create and to explore with. We used materials such as empty glass bottles, masking tapes, plastic, zips etc. to experiment with creating new textures a, shapes and techniques
Systems to us was about expressing ourself, using found materials and objects to create and inspire using different methods.

At first, we tried to create new forms by bonding glass bottles together. However, with exploration we also found that the fragments of glass have more potential to transform into different free forms.

We used Masking tape to create a new space by fixing lots of strips to the ceiling and the floor. We then went on to exploring with layers and sandwiching glass between layers of masking tape. This changed the way in which we viewed the glass all together. From being sharp and dangerous they were now soft and beautiful as the colours also got muted by the masking tape.

We also became interested in the idea of curiosity, hiding things 'behind'. By blocking a space up with tape and using zips, inviting the viewer to open them up and look through, creating a small view point that only shows a part of what's inside, leaving it up the viewers interpretation as to what it is. Also, looking into the concept of smell and how that affects our judgement of something

We explore further with masking tape, creating a fabric-liked surface with the tape. We found that when this material is combined with Wire, it becomes mouldable
